My Experience at Time Out For Girls 2016

(For those who don't know, Time Out For Girls is an LDS event sponsored by Deseret Book for girls 12 to 18. A separate event is held for the women 19 and older.)

Friday:

Yesterday some friends of mine picked me up at 5 after school to bring me to Time Out For Girls. After waiting what felt like practically forever, I couldn't believe this weekend was finally here!!
We arrived with many other women who were all going to TOFG. I met up with my other friends, got checked in, received my bracelet, lanyard, and a super cute tote bag. We walked through the curtained off area to see large screens on either side of a stage set up with microphones, piano, speakers, all that good stuff.
When it started, we had some songs by  Mercy River and a presentation by Emily Freeman. We had a break after an hour and a half, and then had a talk by Tim Ballard and some songs by Nik Day. It was pretty cool when Tim Ballard gave his talk. He works as a secret agent to rescue kids. He even has the fake identities down to the fake drivers license and credit cards. It was pretty awesome! I wanted to get a picture with him so I could brag to all my younger brothers that I had met a secret agent but I didn't get the chance :( He was telling us about his experience on a case that was solved with heavenly help. There was this girl who was about thirteen or so who got kidnapped as held as hostage. She as able to steal one of her captors cell phones to call her mom. She didn't know where she was being held but she described the surrounding areas and her mother's friend guessed she was in Puerto Rico and he drove his truck up there to look for her. In the meantime, the girl was sitting in this windowless cell and this tall, pretty lady walking in. She looked very calm and she told the girl to jump out of the window and just run. She pointed to a window in the wall that hadn't been there before. The girl decided to follow this lady's instructions and jump out of the window and start running. It just so happened that her mothers friend, the truck driver, was right there. He immediately took her home and called the the authorities and somehow Tim Ballard was contacted to do something on the case. The only problem was, they didn't have enough information. All the girl knew was that is was up in Puerto Rico and there was several other girls also being held there. That wasn't much to go on. At the same time that Tim Ballard was being contacted to about this, another man was being contacted by the bad guys, asking if he was interested in finding a purchaser. He pretended to agree and then called the police and stuff. Well, things happened, and Tim Ballard used one of his fake identities to pretend to be the buyer and they got the bad guys and it was cool. He also told us another story about how he went in to rescue some kids and ended up adopting a brother and sister.
We had another presentation by Emily Freeman who told us this story about how her family sheltered a 6'7" Teenager who was from an inactive family and and got kicked out with nowhere to go. They took him in and he became converted and went to collage and became a famous football player or something like that.
And then we finished and went home to go to sleep:)
